Rombi was always the sweetest, gentlest Puli. His goal in life was to be happy, and he always was happy, also silly and crazy. A very fun guy to be around. Oh, he could be sassy with you, giving an extra bark before doing what you wanted him to do.
Rombi was cute anyway, but he could really 'turn on' cute when he wanted a treat. He was incredibly smart; I always thought that he was the smartest Puli that we've ever had.
Rombi and I spent many, many hours together in training for his many activities; agility, obedience and herding were the main ones. I really loved our time together in these activities and am grateful for every minute of memories.
A special time for us was getting ready for an agility run. Our ritual was for him to sit in my lap for rubs, hugs and treats, before going to the ring. Those minutes were so special.
Rombi always gave 100%; he tried to please. He gave his all during every agility run and in the couple of years before his retirement, friends called him 'a Double Q machine'.
In one of his Pre-Trial herding tests, he amazed everyone (me, too) with his ability to read my body language, listen and respond to my commands.
Rombi was a little shy, preferring to be with his family than with strangers. He was happiest at home taking care of us and his house. He was always checking on the family. If he had not seen you in a while, he would look through the house, peering into a room to see if you were there. When I caught him doing this I would wave and say 'Hi Roms'. Once he knew where you were, he was happy.
The last couple of years he enjoyed the friendship of our other Puli, Kesz. We called them the 'Hoodlums' when they got into trouble (both Mt Hood Pulik), but they were BFFs (Best Friends Forever) and it was really nice for Rombi.
Rombi was a tough little guy. He was 'Mr. Hard Body' his whole life. He fought a good fight against the cancer that took him, but in the end it was stronger. Jim and I will SO miss him. He made our lives happier. Kesz is lost without him.
Thanks to Linn & Bill Hiett for letting Rombi live with us and make our lives richer. Goodbye to my 'Sweet Baboo'.
