McKinley, with her beautiful white mark on her chest, came to us as an unknown and quickly took over our lives. She was a powerful prescence and allowed us to live with her on her terms.She was always alert to anyone on our property and let us know in no uncertain terms when someone was approaching her territory. She lost her three and a half year battle with kidney disease in September. Several times we thought we would lose her but she would defy all odds and rally. She was a true fighter. She perservered through the tough times in her stoic way. Her 'brother' Kodi had a difficult time adjusting to the loss of such a strong influence. We all miss her. The house is so quiet without her.

It came to me that everytime I lose a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them.
And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me a piece of their heart.
If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are.
